In conjunction with Southend Borough Council the
school has adopted a Safer Journeys to School Travel Plan designed to reduce
traffic congestion around the school and make travelling to school safer and
healthier. It is in everyone's interest, but especially for the safety and well
being of the children, that the following guidance be followed.
Children may enter and leave the school by either the main Ladram
Road pedestrian gateway or by the entrance to the school field in Barnstable
Road. We encourage children to walk or cycle to and from school where possible,
suitably accompanied by an adult (unless parents judge otherwise). Because of
frequent congestion near the Ladram Road entrance, we also encourage greater
use of the Barnstaple Road entrance for parents who drive pupils to and from
school.
Please note that for security reasons, the Barnstaple
Road gate is locked from 9.10am - 3.00pm and children going home for lunch can
only be collected from the Ladram Road entrance.
Children must not use the school car-park entrance.
Parents are strongly reminded not to park (or drop off children) on zig-zag
lines, on pavements or near school entrances and to fully observe all road
safety precautions. All entrances must be kept clear at all times to give
clear vision for children crossing roads and to allow entrance for emergency
vehicles. Please also have regard for our neighbours when parking.
The school supports the Cycling Proficiency
Schemes provided by the Road Safety Team at Southend Borough Council, but
children need to be provided with appropriate safety equipment and a secure
lock for their cycles. |
