Parents & Photography

Parent Liaison

We are very keen that there should be a close link between parents and the school, and we do urge that, whenever parents have a worry or query, they should make contact with the class teacher or the Headteacher, preferably by appointment. Conversely, if any teachers should wish to discuss anything with particular parents, they will make contact and arrange a mutually convenient meeting. Parents and children

Further to this, in the Autumn and Spring terms, a series of Parent/Teacher Interviews are arranged, on an appointment system. The Autumn term interviews, which come early in the term, are for an exchange of information about the child settling into their new class. Those in the Spring term are for the purpose of giving a progress report. At the end of the Summer term, a written report is issued, which is for the parents' retention, as a copy is kept in the school. At this time, also, an Exhibition of children's work is held, to which all parents are invited. At least once a year, every class has the opportunity to take an assembly, usually on a Friday, when the parents of the class are invited to attend.

Should parents have any complaints about the curriculum, there is a formal procedure that can be followed and details of this can be obtained from the school office or the Area Education Office.

Parent's Association

The school has a thriving Parents' Association to which all parents automatically become members when their child/children enter the school. Every year we hold an A.G.M. in the school hall, normally in the month of October. At this meeting, a committee is elected to organise and run events, along with many other parents, to raise money for the school. We organise many different functions, some of which raise a great deal of money, others, which are more of a social gathering, raise smaller amounts.

Over the years, a wide range of items have been purchased for the school including playground equipment and interactive whiteboards for every classroom. We cannot, of course, do any of our fund-raising without the support of our parents and we look forward to seeing you at our events in the future.

Photography

Photographs of children at the school are used in many ways: to celebrate successes, as part of projects and as a record of school life and specific events. They are normally displayed within the school but may also be used to promote collaborative work with other schools, or within the confines of the school web-site.
Photographs will not be displayed with any personal information beyond the child's name, class and school.
Camera with flashAt no time will a photograph be accompanied by the child's address.

Being able to photograph your child at school, at Sports Day or in a Class Assembly for example, forms an important record of your child's life and we feel it is important for you and your child to be able to store memories in this manner.
If, for any reason, you are not willing for your child to be photographed in this manner, please contact the office for a form to sign to that effect.
