Jewellery & Toys

Jewellery

Information bookThe current LEA Code of Practice for Physical Education, Games, Sports and Outdoor Education states that, "watches, jewellery, rings and earrings, belts with metal buckles and other unnecessary encumbrances (i.e. beads in hair, friendship bracelets) likely to prove dangerous to the wearer or to others, should not be worn". This follows national advice issued by the British Association of Advisers and Lecturers in Physical Education (BAALPE).

In view of this, all jewellery, including sleepers and studs (with the exception of newly pierced ears), rings and bracelets, must be removed for safety reasons and children who do not comply will not be permitted to participate in the activity. The staff will not be responsible for the removal or replacement of earrings. NecklaceSchools have a duty to deliver the National Curriculum to all pupils, but also have a duty to safeguard pupils in their care. Parents or children refusing to comply with these safety requirements, are themselves preventing the school from delivering the National Curriculum. With the safety of your children sharply in focus, it is anticipated that all parents will support this policy by their full compliance.

Toys

Children are allowed to bring pocket sized toys into school to play with at playtimes. Girl with glove puppetPlease ensure, however, that the type of toy they bring in is suitable for the purpose. Toys that resemble a dangerous weapon will not be allowed in school. Children are responsible for their toys at all times. Class teachers cannot accept responsibility for these. The Local Authority does not accept responsibility for the loss or damage to the personal property of pupils. All property must be clearly named.
